Chemical Peels

For patients considering the benefits of a chemical peel, you should know that this cosmetic dermatology procedure is noninvasive and is used to treat a variety of skin care conditions, including the removal of acne scars and wrinkles. SkinSpeaks offers many types of cosmetic dermatology chemical peel treatments to suit your individual skin care needs:

Glycolic Acid Peel

Used for mild peeling treatments, glycolic acid is a naturally occurring AHA found in sugar cane. It improves fine lines, uneven pigmentation and acne. Glycolic Acid is the primary AHA used in chemical exfoliation to improve the skin’s overall appearance, tone and texture by weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together, thus causing them to shed faster than normal. Usually a series of peels is needed to achieve the desired results. Glycolic Acid Peels can:

  • Reduce active acne
  • Help with blackheads
  • Deep clean pores
  • Improve the appearance of light wrinkles
  • Stimulate natural collagen production
  • Even out skin tone
  • Fade acne marks
  • Fade hyperpigmentation
  • Smooth rough skin

Salicylic Acid Peel

Salicylic Acid’s capacity for deep pore penetration makes it an excellent form of acne treatment. Dead skin and debris can plug the delicate pore resulting in blackheads, whiteheads, and acne eruptions.

Salicylic Acid’s winning combination of anti-septic and exfoliating properties promotes a clear, healthy complexion. A Salicylic Acid Peel will begin to purge clogged pores even after the first peel. As a result, acne breakouts may temporarily heighten. However, the pore purification process will ultimately improve acne conditions and provide clear skin. If you are allergic to aspirin, you will not be a good candidate for this chemical peel treatment.

Lactic Acid Peel

Derived from milk, a lactic acid peel is a very mild chemical peel and a good choice for a first-time peel or for those with sensitive skin. Dry or oily skin types can also use this peel and achieve optimal results. Lactic acid is especially good for mature skin, and it’s also less harsh than a glycolic acid peel. The benefits of lactic acid peels include:

  • Exfoliates the surface of your skin
  • Deep cleans pores
  • Brightens skin
  • Improves the appearance of light wrinkles
  • Stimulates natural collagen production
  • Smoothes skin
  • Improves hydration

Vitalize Peel

The SkinMedica Vitalize Peel® can take years off of aging skin in just minutes. Vitalize Peel® is the only superficial peel suitable for all skin tones and complexions. This special formulation includes a unique blend of peeling agents: alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, resorcinol, and retinoic acid (obtained by dermatology physicians only). While results are predictable and noticeable after just one peel, dramatic results are seen after a series of peels. Vitalize Peel® tightens pores, improves skin texture, and smooths ruddy complexions.

The SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel is a professional grade, chemical peel that aggressively treats sun damage, melasma, acne scars, and fine wrinkles in as little as just one treatment. Its advanced formula provides controlled exfoliation of the uppermost damaged layers of the skin to reveal fresh, healthy skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, and roughness are noticeably reduced after just one treatment, although a series of peels may be necessary depending on the desired skin care results.
