As Midwest’s leading provider of Botox Cosmetic treatment, Skin Speaks and Advancements in Dermatology recognize that patients may also be attracted to the alternative treatment option, Dysport.

Dysport has a tendency for faster onset, providing visible results to the patient within just a couple of days. It is suggested through Dysport trials and studies, that treatment results will last 4-5 months. Our clinics have been injecting this product since July 2009, and cannot conclude an average duration from our patient base at this time.

What is the cost of Dysport treatment?

Patients can be easily misled when comparing individual unit pricing, so we have provided the comparable dosage and pricing chart below.

*Dysport dosage is 2.5 times more units than Botox Cosmetic units.
Botox: Dysport:
20 unit dosage = 50 unit dosage
$12 unit $4 unit
-------- --------
$240 $200
Units/Pricing Botox = Units/Pricing Dysport
20 units Botox ($240) = 50 units Dysport ($200)
30 units Botox ($360) = 75 units Dysport ($300)
40 units Botox ($480) = 100 units Dysport ($400)
50 units Botox ($600) = 125 units Dysport ($500)

*Treatment results with either Botox or Dysport average 3-5 months.
*Allergan, the makers of Botox, celebrated 7 years in the U.S. for Cosmetic Use.
*Medicis, the maker of Dysport, received the FDA approval in May, 2009. Dysport has been safely used in other countries for the past 7 years.

Both products are FDA approved to treat the area between the eyebrows, called the glabella. For years, providers have used Botox to treat other areas including the forehead, around the eyes (crows feet) and small doses in dynamic areas around the mouth, nose, and neck. We anticipate similar practices when treating our patients with Dysport.

Traditionally, the price of Botox is $14/unit, but our BotoxistheBomb rewards program members pay just $12/unit and earn free Botox. Learn more and sign up here - it's free!

Dysport is the latest wrinkle treatment to receive FDA approval in the United States.  While it has been used in Europe and New Zealand for years, Medicis Inc just recently brought Dysport to the U.S. Market.

Like other wrinkle treatments containing the botulinum toxin, Dysport works by a process called neuromuscular blocking, which relaxes those small muscles in the face and forehead that cause wrinkles to form.

Your facial muscles contract and your skin folds when you laugh, frown, smile, squint, and so on.  In an aging person, whose collagen and skin elasticity has broken down, those folds become static wrinkles, which remain visible at all times. Treatment with Dysport will not only reduce and ‘smooth out’ wrinkles, but also prevent them from getting worse.

Some of the popular indications for treatment include the following:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as ‘11s’
  • Crow’s feet/eye wrinkles
  • Glabellar lines/forehead wrinkles

In a brief outpatient procedure, Dysport is injected (in very small amounts) into targeted facial muscles.  The injections are relatively painless, but a numbing agent can be applied if necessary.  Results take effect over the next few days as the muscles begin to relax.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?

Although the results are visible, Dysport treatment does not radically change your facial appearance. You are able to show full expression without wrinkles and creases.

How does Dysport work?

Moderate to severe lines and furrows form over time as the result of muscle activity. Dysport is injected directly into the muscle to temporarily block the transmission of nerve impulses and relax the muscle.
