Dr. Carney and Yone Tierney, our RN injection specialist, appeared on Kare 11 Showcase Minnesota this morning to discuss cosmetic treatments like Sculptra and the new Botox-alternative, Dysport.

As Dr. Carney explains, we’re pretty excited about Dysport these days; it costs less and may last as long, if not longer than Botox.

Sculptra was recently FDA approved for cosmetic use – adding volume to the skin and tissue, gradually improving your appearance with an increase in collagen. One of the advantages of Sculptra is the fact that it lasts longer than previous products – up to two years in some cases.

Yone explains the difference between Sculptra and other fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane; Sculptra will replace overall structure in the face rather than a specifically targeted line. Sculptra is not just for anti-aging purposes, but also augmenting the cheeks to correct lack of facial volume.

What is Latisse? If you haven’t already heard, it’s the latest eyelash enhancer brought to market by Allergan, the medical giant behind Botox and Juvederm.

Applied to the base of the lashes, Latisse keeps hairs in their growth phase, producing longer, darker and thicker eyelashes. The effects of Latisse are not permanent, so you have to keep using it. The eyelashes will return to normal after the patient stops using Latisse.
