Don’t forget about the neck and chest!

When thinking of skincare products and treatments, we tend to focus our thoughts on our face. Of course, we want to have glowing skin on our face, however we need to make sure that our face matches our neck and chest.

When applying sunscreen, make sure that you apply the product down the neck and also on your chest. The neck and chest are some of the first areas to show visible signs of aging, develop laxity and discoloration, all of which give away our age. Being sure to protect those areas will avoid those pesky spots and wrinkles from popping up.

But what if the damage is already done?

That is where treatments come in to play! The neck and chest are wonderful areas to treat using the latest laser technology. Whether it’s skin tightening for the neck area, skin resurfacing for wrinkles and fine lines, or needing to even out skin tone by removing unsightly brown spots, we have your answer.

Most treatments require little to no downtime and results can be achieved in one to two treatments. Consultations are always complimentary. We would love to sit down and create a personalized treatment plan to make sure all of your goals will be met.

Those Pesky Lip Lines

The lines around your mouth & your lips??

We have been exploring how Botox can soften unwanted lines and wrinkles, and YES you guessed it! Botox can be used to soften the lines around your mouth – for some people it even adds a subtle pop of volume to your lips by relaxing your orbicularis oris (the muscle around your mouth).

You are probably thinking, “really?!” YES, really. We use a small amount of Botox, it is a few precise injections, and you get beautiful, natural results.

Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, Volbella, and Restylane can also be used – either alone or in combination with Botox to treat your vertical lip lines and to enhance your lips. When we sit down together to discuss your goals we will formulate a customized plan that is right for you!

We look forward to discussing Botox, dermal fillers, and your skin care goals with you! To schedule, call 952-435-6565 and our knowledgeable staff will help you. See you soon!

Kybella to the Rescue!

Have you heard about Kybella?

I’m going to come right out and say it.   If you have a double chin, read this!

Kybella is a non-surgical, FDA approved treatment, administered with simple injections that reduces moderate to severe submental fat.   You probably just read that last sentence and are thinking, submental fat, what does that mean?  Well, submental fat is the medical term given to your double chin.  Neither sound good and either way you say it, you want it gone!  The best thing about Kybella is that it permanently destroys fat cells.  Yes, permanently!

Whether you inherited your double chin from your mom or dad, or maybe you earned it, you know how hard it is to get rid of.  Your double chin is stubborn.  Even working out and eating right won’t make it go away.  Does your double chin make you self-conscious?

Do you find yourself posing a certain way in photos to hide it?  Maybe always lifting your chin or taking a selfie with the camera held high so no one sees it?  Or maybe you like fall and winter so that you can wear turtle necks and scarves to hide it.  Well, Kybella can finally get rid of it for you, permanently.

To learn more about Kybella and how it can help to improve your profile call our office to schedule a no pressure, no strings attached complimentary consultation with one of our injection specialist at Skin Speaks Spa M.D.  Our number is 952-435-6565 and we look forward to sitting down with you to discuss Kybella!

Botox & Dermal Fillers – What are they, how do they work, and how are they different? #3

In our third and final post for “Botox & Dermal Fillers – What are they, how do they work, and how are they different?” we are going to look at two other types of dermal fillers, Calcium hydroxylapatite and poly-L-lactic-acid-based fillers.

Calcium hydroxylapatite (such as Radiesse) and poly-L-lactic-acid-based fillers (such as Sculptra) stimulate your own body to reproduce collagen to re-volumize your face.  Partial results from these types of fillers are visible right away, however what makes these fillers different than hyaluronic acid fillers is that they continue to work beneath the skin after you leave the office.  The creation of new collagen will continue over several weeks, and results are generally longer lasting, 1 year or more for Radiesse and 2 or more years for Sculptra.

These fillers can be used to treat a variety of concerns, from deeper lines around the mouth to volume loss in the cheeks and hollows in temples.  Results vary, depending on which filler is used to help you to reach your goal.

When you are ready to schedule a complimentary consult with one of our highly sklled and trained injection specialists, please call 952.435.6565.  They will answer all of your questions and help you customize a plan that you are comfortable with, no pressure, no questionable sales tactics, just open and honest conversation about you and your goals.

Microblading- Coming Soon to SkinSpeaks!!

After Photo Close Up 1

What is the buzz surrounding microblading? We are so glad you asked…

Microblading is a technique similar to permanent makeup tatooing. However, microblading creates the look of individual hairs, whereas tatooing generally outlines then fills in an area. Microblading uses an ultra-fine, micro-blade to etch individual hair-like strokes, creating a very natural looking eyebrow.

This tailored method creates crisp hair strokes that flow in the same direction as your own hairs to blend, manicure and WOW your brows. Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment that improves the look of anyone’s brows, whether it is adding dimension to thin or sparse brows or improving the shape and arch for those who already have a lot of natural brow hair.

It Doesn’t Get Any Easier Than CoolSculpting®!

CoolSculpting Media Pic

CoolSculpting® is effective for spot treatment of localized fat deposits and works best on modest fat bulges in highly–targeted areas often referred to as love handles, muffin top and back fat.

CoolSculpting® is non-invasive technology that freezes away stubborn fat. CoolSculpting® targets and cools unwanted fat cells in the selected area to induce noticeable, natural-looking reduction in the fat layer.

A typical treatment session for one area takes one to two hours to complete. Each CoolSculpting® procedure provides an average 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated area.

The amount of treatment applications needed depends on the actual size of the area being treated. Typically treatment plans involve 1-4 treatments per area. Results can be seen in as soon as three weeks following treatment, with best results occurring over the next two to four months.

My miraDry Experience #5

miraDry 3

My favorite benefit from the miraDry treatment so far has been the immediate loss of odor and perspiration. I decided to do the miraDry procedure because I didn’t want to have to worry about odor any more. The treatment itself went a lot quicker than I anticipated and I noticed a significant reduction in the swelling and tenderness every day during my recovery.  Whether I am sweating at the gym or working closely with someone at work, I no longer feel a sense of insecurity about my odor. I would recommend this treatment to anyone!

Skincare and Laser Treatments for Men- Not Just For the Ladies Anymore! Part 2 of 3

tray-web

Day 2 of our “Skincare and Laser Treatments for Men- Not Just For the Ladies Anymore!” blog series addresses a second anti-aging treatment method- Chemical Peels.

Chemical peels can be a great quick fix for many reasons. They provide a quick and thorough exfoliation in just a few short days. Skin will appear rejuvenated and refreshed with little to no downtime.

At SkinSpeaks, we offer two different chemical peel options; the Vitalize Peel and the Rejuvenize Peel, both by SkinMedica. Both peels will smooth the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and roughness. You will see noticeable results after just one peel, however we do recommend a series of peels to get optimal results. Whether you have mild to moderate damage, or moderate to severe damage, we have the peel that is right for you.

As always, call 952.435.6565 to request a complimentary consultation!

Warts

Warts are common growths that can develop on practically any part of the body, but especially on the hands and feet. Because they are caused by a virus, they can be spread to other areas of the body or to other people via shaking hands or walking barefoot in an area that someone else with a wart has stepped.

In some cases the body will eliminate warts without any treatment. In other cases, however, this does not happen and the wart(s) continues to grow, spread, and in some cases become painful. Luckily, several treatment options are available. Small and new warts sometimes resolve with a single treatment while many warts require multiple treatments.
