Reliant Technologies (Fraxel) Listed on Silicon Valley’s ‘Fast 50′

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The Silicon Valley/ San Jose Business Journal recently distinguished Reliant Technologies Inc. as the 38th fastest growing private company in the area. Reliant has quickly become the industry leader in fractional aesthetic laser systems, with Fraxel laser systems rapidly gaining popularity in the U.S. and abroad.

The ranking is based on revenue and growth increases between 2005 and 2007 – Reliant had a 109 percent increase during those years, largely due to sales of Fraxel laser systems.

Chief operating officer Jeffrey Jones said, “Our success can be attributed to the revolutionary Fraxel laser technology, coupled with a fantastic team that possesses a ‘let’s get it done today’ sense of urgency and a commitment to customer care.”

Fraxel lasers are incredibly versatile for many aesthetic treatments. They treat deep into the skin or gently resurface and rejuvenate the outermost dermal layers.

See Immediate Thermage Results on The Doctors TV

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

On this episode of daytime talk show The Doctors, Dr. Bill Johnson of Innovations Medspa (Dallas, TX) performs a Thermage procedure on a studio guest named Sonia. If you’re unfamiliar with the procedure, Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat collagen fibers beneath the skin, causing them to contract. As a result, the skin and other tissue tightens.

According to their website (www.thedoctorstv.com), “this medical dream team is the go-to source for information on the latest scientific breakthroughs.” Thermage would certainly fit into that category and the results shown in this video can attest to that. Dr. Bill Johnson and cosmetic surgeon Andrew Ordon document an in studio procedure and present the results.

Sonia’s waist was reduced a shocking 2.75 inches. Over 5 inches came off her hips. Dr. Johnson notes that the reduction is not due to a loss of “water weight” but collagen contraction actually taking place.

We’ve got Thermage and often run specials on Thermage, which may be found on our Specials page.

Bioethicist Defends Cosmetic Surgery and Anti-Aging on MPR

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

In a speech last summer at the historic Chautauqua Institution, bioethics professor Arthur Caplan argued for increased medical research for the pursuit of anti-aging and surgical enhancement.

With the healthcare system being less than perfect in the United States, it is difficult to pursue these goals.  Caplan acknowledges this as the first priority, but also has to defend the pursuit against another problem; the overly “puritanical” view of many people.

In the first few minutes of his speech, Caplan recalls a story about a woman who had received harsh criticism for getting a facelift.  A younger female counterpart said of her, “that’s terrible, you should simply accept the changes [of aging] as they come.”  The story served as a model example of that misguided puritanical view of many people today.

In his deep philosophical argument, Caplan rejects the puritanical view and presents many reasons why we should use medical technology to pursue new discoveries in the science of stem cells.  He suggest that if we push for adequate funding and defeat the misguided morality of the “new puritans,” it may be possible for us to achieve methods of whole-body anti aging, through the regenerative capacities of stem cells.

Votes Have Been Cast, Evolence Stays On The Island

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Florida doctor (and Survivor contestant) Dr. Sean Kenniff recently reported about Evolence for the Miami CBS affiliate, explaining its benefits over other dermal fillers.  Dr. Kenniff is trained in neurology, biology and spokesman for non-profit brain tumor research organization, The Four Foundation.  He got voted off the island, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take his advice about Evolence.

Kenniff talks dermal fillers with dermatologist Dr. Mark Steven Nestor, explaining just one of the popular remedies that Evolence can perform – hiding those pesky “laugh lines.”  You might also call them “parentheses”; the indentations on each side of your mouth from smiling and laughing (or scowling) all those years.  Dr. Nestor says they happen because of a combination of facial fat loss and skin that is “more lax.”

Dermal fillers are the best remedy for such issues and Evolence is one that provides a long lasting effect.  The main structural component of Evolence is “purified porcine collagen” and with the company’s high-tech “cross linking” process, the natural sugar D-Ribose gets added to increase longevity and consistency.

We’ve got Evolence in the office now, and Dr. Carney was one of the first dermatologists in the US to be trained with it. Several of the staff have had Evolence treatment now too, so ask us about our experience with it, we’re happy to share.
