American ArteFill is Just as Effective, More Uniform, Safer

One year ago, Indiana surgeon Mark Hamilton had doubts about the quality of the dermal filler ArteFill.  Now, according to a story by the local Indianapolis CBS news affiliate, Hamilton has renewed confidence in the product and has begun using it in his practice.

ArteFill is manufactured with bovine collagen (from a cow) and very small spheres, also known as “microspheres”, made of special plastic.  These ingredients are supposed to give ArteFill a superior chemical structure, making it last much longer than other fillers.  In some cases, the effects of ArteFill can last as long as 5 years.

The problems Dr. Hamilton observed last year were related to consistency.  He was concerned about a certain irregularity in the micro-spheres and some loose particles present in the product.  To prevent any possibility of an adverse patient reaction, he chose to recommend other fillers to his patients.

Fast forward to 2008 and the doc says that the latest version of ArteFill on the American market is here and contains none of the observable inconsistency he once observed.  The new ArteFill is very uniform and the likelihood of finding loose particles has been reduced substantially.  Dr. Hamilton now administers the drug in his practice on a regular basis.

With ArteFill’s long lasting effect and comparable safety profile, it should rest high on the list of considerations for those interested in volumizing and rejuvenating their skin with the help of a dermal filler.
